An Introduction

The first ever International Federation for Kabaddi sport “World Kabaddi Federation” (WKF) was officially founded in 2003 with a vision to find a way to unite all the Kabaddi organizations as well as to use Kabaddi sport to promote peace, Harmony, understanding and Co-operation amongst the world community. later as per the decision of the First World Congress held on the 4th Nov. 2004, “World Kabaddi Federation” was incorporated under section 25 of the companies Act, 1956 on 30 the September 2005 with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India as an International Sports Federation to govern the game of Kabaddi at international level in capacity of sole organisation in charge of all forms of Kabaddi sports in World; the representative authority in all other world bodies responsible for Commonwealth, Continental games, world games, regional and International Olympic games and other sports related global activities and programs.

It shall protect the game of Kabaddi from introduction of improper methods and practices by National and regional bodies which may bring the game into disrepute and It shall act as arbitrator in settlement of disputes of member countries and affiliates arising out of membership disputes and others. It shall organize and sanction International competitions, official World Cup, World Championships and all other Regional and International tournaments.

WKF is proud Member of the following Organizations:

1. Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

2. International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)

3..Int’l member of International Sport Network Organization (ISNO)

4. Full member of General Association of the Asia Pacific Sports Federations (GAAPSF).

5. Accredited Member of International Trade Council (ITC)

6. Certified ISO 9001 : 2015 for the Promotion & Development of Kabaddi, Organising Tournaments, Leagues & Creating opportunities for Players on International platforms.

7. MSME Certificate bearing UDYAM-DL-03-0061165 was obtained from Govt. of India Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on 08.05.2025.

8. 12A & 80G Form No. 10AC was registered and approved provisionally on 17.06.2025

International Olympic Committee (IOC) Recognition

As per the provisions of the Olympic Charter, WKF had officially applied for International Olympic

Committee (IOC) recognition on 24.10.2005 which was acknowledged by IOC Sports Department vide letter No 2007/CKGF/clcn 1 February 2006. Later IOC Sport Department has directed us to submit the form of official procedure and criteria for International Federations requesting IOC recognition for which we have already submitted our application which was promptly acknowledged by IOC. Thus IOC recognition process of WKF is in process and we are optimistic about getting the IOC Recognition to WKF in near future provided that all the Kabaddi organizations are united and reaches the minimum required number of affiliates National Federations
